Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum is able to keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency at which you have to manually vacuum. Pick a robot vacuum that has good navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has an enormous bin that only needs to be cleaned out every now and then.
You can also find models that mop and charge on their own This feature could be beneficial for those with pets or kids. A majority of the top performers in our tests have excellent obstacle avoidance.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a good option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin as it gets full.
Both robots do well picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors and they're very adept at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test the i3+ does not have any obstacle-avoidance features, so it may be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces like from hardwood to rug.
iRobot suggests that you clean up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clear so they do not become blocked by dirt. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is empty it goes back to its docking station, automatically empties its trash into the station's dust bin and continues cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes about three hours to recharge.
2. iRobot i7+ Roomba
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most important feature of all -- it comes with self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that lets it map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can direct your robot using the app or via voice.
The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers recurring costs.
We were also impressed with the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions, as well as to move around the room and vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. After connecting, we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s preferences and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for the majority of households, but it also fits perfectly next to a coffee table or on shelves where you can wave it around like a magic tool.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpets to trap large particles and fine dust. It has three suction modes to meet the task being performed. It is able to quickly switch from handheld to floor vacuum and vice versa.
This model comes with a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also provides the ability to connect two attachments and the wand. This is a major improvement over previous Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The main issue with the V10 is its limited run time. As CR's tests show, its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is a typical, not exceptional, battery-powered vacuum's run time. This is enough time to clean a typical-sized home, but not enough to get into every corner. (A second time usually works). good robot vacuum has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior for carpet floors with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums The 694 is an affordable model that's a great option for those who don't want to spend too much on a robot. It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our tests, and it often goes over the same areas many times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it lacks the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it often is power-depleted before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways because it has fewer parts that need regular cleaning It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job maneuvering itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also comes with physical boundaries and can be controlled with your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more durable, has a stronger motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name that you see on all sorts of electronic gadgets for your home So it's no surprise that they're also one of the top robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard technology to aid in navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app offers a variety of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior modification docking frequency settings and more. The app is simple to use and understand, just like other Samsung devices.
In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it removed 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items such as socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we tried which could be a problem for some buyers.

The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. This feature allows you to check in on your children or pets while you're away. The filter and dustbin can be washed for quick, easy cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps keep the bin clean and maximizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path and an extra-large dustbin that holds 2X more debris than the competition to keep the cleaning area clean for the longest time. They also include two side sweepers to clean along edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level depending on whether it's cleaning up surface dirt or embedded dirt. The vacuum also comes with an app that allows users to see the virtual map, manage functions, and create schedules. You can also monitor the vacuum's status and send it to the dock for charging with the touch of a single button. The app lets you alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to determine where it is focused or if it's stuck.
The app allows you to manually steer the robot when needed. My living room rug, for example, has a darkly-colored border that could cause trouble for other robots. However the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border without registering it as a cliff. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
